PROJECT ONE

Step #1) Define the problem

  • My First project is to find and improve upon an existing template for a Movie Prop from1984.

  • All of the required materials are as followed. The Template. 3 Soda Cans, Metal Rivets, Hot Glue, Tape, and painting materials for painting and weathering.

Step #2) Collect information:

  • The Project is very simple, however it is very tedious and possibly  mildly dangerous if your not careful.

  •  As for the visual references, The template used for the original Prop is Readily available and free. for the paint job all I have to do is look at images of the original prop as well as replicas of it.

  • Fortunately There is very little technique needed and all you really need is like a expo marker or a stick to bend the pieces to its needed shape.

Step #3) Brainstorm

  •  There was no brainstorm needed since the template was already made. although I did have to alter it because when I tried to print it out the paper size was not correct and the image came out too big.

Step #4) Develop a solution/ build a model

  • I started building the Model after I got home from school. It was somewhat simple but took several hours to trace out each individual piece and then cut out the metal and then assemble it. After that I painted the entire thing In A Brass color and then had to wait for it try dry. It turned out relatively good, however I should have painted each individual piece rather than painting the whole thing at once. which would have prevented the paint to rub off during the drying process while it was moving

Step #5) Collect Feedback

  • Although I should get feedback, I already know where I did bad and where I could improve in the future.

Step #6) Improve your Design

  • Rather than creating another draft of the same thing with the improvements. I will carry it on in my second project by creating Another one but from A different design from a different movie.

Note: The Prop requires A Leather Glove
(Which I do not own or bother to buy)
So I will only be doing the Metal part if the Prop.

Note: All that is left to do is weather it. In project 3 I will hopefully develop the finger knives since they have none and its a whole other project thats to complex to do.

PROJECT TWO

Step #1) Define the problem

  • My second Project is to make a similar prop like my first project however, The prop is a different from the first because it was designed in 2010 rather than 1984. And I will implement improvements and techniques that I learned from the first project.

  • The materials are the same as the first project however I will use the same template, but modify it to resemble the 2010 prop because I could not find any templates for the 2010 Variant of the Prop.

Step #2) Collect information:

  • The project is the same as the first however, I will need to add more design elemants aswell as I will need to make 5 extra pieces to the design which would require an extra soda can.

  • The references I will use is just Images of the original prop and replicas of it as well.

  • I will try to implement techniques  and improvements I learned from the first project.

Step #3) Brainstorm

  • Since there are no templates of the 2010 Prop. I will try to replicate it using images and making templates using said images.

Step #4) Develop a solution/ build a model

  • I found that using an expo marker and your Index finger is very good for bending the metal  to its shape.

  • The design is very similar to the first however instead of a back plate on your hand it consists of 4 strips of metal attached to a metal band attached around the wrist as seen on the right.

Step #5) Collect Feedback

  • I learned from my first attempt from the first project that there is a specific way to bend the metal and specific way to make a cut on the finger tips in order for them to be rounded when bent. Also I learned the technique to make the finger more posable as the first attempt was very stiff.

Step #6) Improve your Design

  • To improve upon the design i just implemented what I learned into my second project.

PROJECT THREE

Step #1) Define the problem

  • Both gloves have different blades mounted on the 4 fingers. however ill only be doing the 1984 blades taken from the Case xx p210 knives.

Step #2) Collect information:

  • to do this ill need to make a template of the knife and it needs to be the exact size

  • for this ill need pictures of the knife next to a ruler

  • luckily the picture of that was one of the first that came up when i searched for the knife.

Step #3) Brainstorm

  • I tried making the first template however I did it without taking into consideration of the ruler to make it accurate size

Step #4) Develop a solution/ build a model

  • With the ruler i made a new template and printed it out

  • then i put it on the finger tip of the glove and it came out perfect.

Step #5) Collect Feedback

  • unfortunately the metal i use (soda cans) is made to thin and is prone to curl because it has been curled for so long.

Step #6) Improve your Design

  • due to this being the case the only way i could think to do it succesfully would be to use the metal from a stainless steel ruler. I dont have 4 of those so i wont me making a physical model.

  • Other things I could use, A metal bookmark or otherwise anything that is exactly 7 inches long and is thick enough to not easily bend
